Andvord Bay / Antarctica 64°50,7’S; 062°31,9’W

An outing with our ROV was scheduled for the afternoon. The “National Geographic Explorer” had re-positioned to beautiful Andvord Bay. Efren was our driver and he took Alyssia, our training Undersea Specialist, Jaime, Lisa and myself out into the bay.

Jaime helped Alyssia with the cable as Lisa lowered the ROV.

We saw some pretty amazing stuff and Lisa even allowed me to fly the ROV!

But the best was yet to come… . We had just packed up the ROV and were about to start heading back to the ship, when a Humpback Whale made an appearance just off our Zodiac! That was a pretty breathtaking experience!!!

Back on board I joined Lisa and Alyssia at the Dive Locker and helped – where I could – with editing all the footage we took.

Lisa is planning to present it at the recap tomorrow evening. And guess what! Yes – she asked me to join her again.
Did I ever mention how proud these people make me???
