Fred-Report:

Fred arrived into Launceston Tasmania to stay with Michael in late January.

Launceston is in the northern part of the Island of Tasmania and has a population of about 100,000 people.

Fred had already spent a lot of time in the southern part of the island, mainly in the capital, Hobart where he embarked on his trips to the Antarctic.

Sunday 26th January was Australia Day. This marks the arrival of the First Fleet of white British settlers and convicts to New South Wales in 1788.

As its now summer in Australia its usual for locals to celebrate the day with an outdoors meal and a few drinks and watch a cricket game.

Fred started the day by joining Michael and his brother Dan for an early coffee and then later going to the family's home for a BBQ.

It was a very hot day and despite the appearance of the bottles near him, Fred had simply fallen asleep in the sun after having too much to eat.

We think that his cold weather clothing didn't help much either so Fred is now back to just his orange life jacket which suits the summer heat more. Might have to find him some swimming trunks for a trip to the beach soon.
