| Fred-Report:
In the early morning hours we anchored in a little bay at Bear Island. Some of the crew took a Zodiac and went fishing. They caught so much cod – poor Pantryman Alex will be busy at least two days to clean all the fish and prepare them accordingly.
I preferred to go on a Zodiac cruise.
Linnea, our Assistant Expedition Leader took me along. It was a bit of a bouncy and splashy ride at times, but I was in excellent company. Bobbe, one of our frequent passengers, enjoyed taking care of me.
Our Expedition Leader Bud was driving the Zodiac.
He took us into all kinds of bays and past steep cliffs. We got really good looks at all the Guillemots, Kittiwakes and Glaucous Gulls that populate the island by the thousands. My personal highlight on this tour, though, was a long cave. Bud carefully navigated us through the “Pearly Gates”, at the end of which we were greeted by a few waves and sea spray. Back on board it was time for a big mug of hot chocolate.
